Augusta closes the season with a British Championship

Saturday, September 19th, 2026

The British Masters Athletics Championships took place in Derby on the 11th-13th September this year. One of our athletes chose this to be her last competition of the season, and headed home with two medals.

Augusta Moldovan is one of our sprint events coaching team. She also competes for the club in league events, and as a W40 Masters athlete in championships.

For those who don’t know Augusta, she represented Romania in the Heptathlon at the World Junior Championships, and has also represented her home country at 200m & 400m. 2026 was the first season for a couple of years that Augusta has competed and she has consistently scored well for Braintree & District AC every time she’s turned out.

At the British Masters Athletics Championships this year, Augusta finished 3rd in the Long Jump with 4.68m. The following day, she won the High Jump with 1.40m. Her comment; “It wasn’t great – I jumped 1.50m two years ago,” sums up Augusta’s approach to her sport.

And next year? “I’m planning to focus on 200m and 400m to try to improve my speed. I go up an age group in a couple of years and I’ll probably make a serious attempt at Heptathlon then.”

Augusta trains with the senior sprint group on Tuesdays and leads their session on Thursdays. Have a chat with her about what she did to become an international athlete and be inspired.
