Many more athletes achieve AAA Standards, July2017
We already have 89 performances at AAA standards compared to 60 last year, nearly a 50% improvement and the season is just over half way. That shows what a great job our athletes, coaches and everyone involved in the club are doing. Latest updates are shown in yellow on the record sheet (see Track & Field, Records & Awards). Keep up the great work!

Lily Brand breaks own club record, Colchester, June2017
Well done Lily Brand who broke her own U13 club record with a throw of 30.26 at Colchester on
Sunday 11th June. Lilly is talented across all the throws events but she has now moved to 6th in the country in Javelin with her latest effort. Great work Lily, well done. 

Best ever Essex Championship for BDAC, May 2017
An amazing weekend at the Essex Champs with 27 Medals won by BDAC athletes, our best ever return. 8 for the Men/Boys and 19 for the Women/Girls with 2 new championship bests and 4 club records.

Outside of the medalists, we have so many PBs and breakthrough performances showing superb strength in depth across the club. Well done to everyone involved in the club and congratulations to the athletes and coaches for this great weekends work. The future is bright. The future is Red & Yellow!

New records in April 2017 - UPDATE!
Sadie achieved a new personal best and a new U13 Club record in the Chelmsford Open 800m to put her 3rd in the UK. She then went on to achieve a new Club record in the EAL 1500m putting her number 1 in the UK. Massive congratulations Sadie! Then Charlie Shingleton, competing in the BUCS 400m heats broke the Club record for the senior men.

BDAC Juniors Excel at Schools Championships, March 2017
On Wednesday 22nd March, Rosie Dickason came first in North Essex School Year 6 girls Cross Country.Also competing for the year 6 boys was Oliver who won his race. Also Betsy Lewis came 2nd in the year 5 race and 1st in the team event. 

On 26th March 2017, Dylan competed in the British Schools Modern Biathlon Championships. The run event was first in which he took 5 seconds off his 800m PB with a fantastic time of 2:45 putting him in 14th place. After a short break before the swim, a solid performance pushed his finishing position up to 13th overall out of 97 finalists. Thank you Simon, and the other coaches for all your support.

On Wed 22nd March 2017, Taylor Gooding came first & Betsy Lewis second in the School Year 5 Girls Race at Great Notley Country Park with a bit of a battle towards the end of the race. They are both now through to the Essex XC Finals at Hadleigh Country Park.

On 26th March 2017, Jessica competed in the British School Modern Biathlon Championships. She had a fantastic 800m run with a time of 2:55 which took about 2.5 seconds off her PB, and again smashed her swim with a big PB giving her a final position in the competition of 17th out of 83 finalists in her category.

Well done all of you and anyone else we have not heard from yet.

Sadie Frater-White breaks club 800m record, 15th February 2017
Sadie Frater-White receives the trophy for breaking the 800m U13 Club Record. Sadie ran a fantastic race to finish in first position in a time of 2:27:73 at Lea Valley. This puts Sadie 4th in the UK for U13 800m. An amazing result & congratulations to Sadie.

Sadie ran her first ever 800m and came first in a race which had lots of under 17s in it with a time of 2min 27:77secs which puts her 4th in the UK on the power of 10. Congratulations Sadie!

SEAA U15/U17 Championships Successes, 7/8th January 2017
Congratulations to all our U15 and U17 athletes who competed this weekend in the SEAA Indoor Champs at Lee Valley. As usual there were some great performances from our athletes and a number of PB's were achieved in a variety of events. Specific mentions go out to Eve Wright, Kate Sheppard and Leah Duncan.

U17: Eve competed in the 60m and qualified through the 2 rounds into the final which was great as it is her first year in the U17 age group. She ran a very quick 7.83s and finished 5th in an extremely close final!
U15: Kate Sheppard competed in both the 60m hurdles and the 60m. She made it through to the semi final of the hurdles and by doing so ran a club record of 9.69 seconds. In addition to the hurdles she qualified for the English champs 60m with 8.54s to join those who have already achieved the qualifying time.

Leah Duncan had a busy weekend competing in the 60m on Saturday and the 200m on Sunday. After making it through the first round & semi final of both events she managed to secure a bronze medal in the 60m in a time of 7.94 seconds. In her 6th race of the weekend, the 200m final, Leah was able to go even better and won the gold medal (picture below) in a time of 26.12 and a great way to end a good weekend of athletics!
