10 Year Old Luke Allen Leads the U13 Boys to Glory at Hockley

An amazing performance by 10 year old Luke Allen crowned a great Saturday for Braintree & District Athletic Club in the Essex League Cross Country at Hockley.

Allen's third place, just 20 seconds behind the winner was amazing, as he was running against boys some two years older than him.

Great supporting contributions by Joe Sharman, 20th, Connor Culham, 28th, Finlay Leport, 30th and Kian Culham, 33rd, gave Braintree first place in the 13 Boys category.

This was the first time ever the club has won such an event.

In the U13 Girls, Jessica Bulleid finished in 30th with her sister Kate coming in 40th.

The U15 Girls also had a great day, coming in a record 3rd place, with Anna Eden 20th, Samantha Ragus 14th, Sophia Diss 18th and Chloe Cockell 22nd.

The U17/20 Women saw Chloe Beckett finish a very good 9th against some much older competition.

The Senior Women came 15th overall with Josie Sheffield 36th, Sue Sharman 84th and Rhona Firth 85th.

Braintree's men came 11th out of the 22 teams in the league, with Richard Pollitt 96th, Simon Mennell 126th, Lee Cousins 129th, David Reaves 138th, Mark Jackson 148th and Neil Speed 164th.
